To our neighbors, businesses, community, customers, and friends old and new, we share your overwhelming grief over the murder of George Floyd and appreciate your outpouring of interest in making a difference.
Clearly, there is much work to be done in the days, weeks, and months ahead. The Lyndale, Whittier, Wedge, South Uptown, neighborhood groups in collaboration with Lyn-Lake and Uptown Business Associations are joining efforts to honor Mr. Floyd's legacy, rebuild our community, heal wounds, and create a breadth of opportunities for all. Here’s what we are doing and how you can help.
We have started the Lyn-Lake Region Business Recovery Fund to help local, small businesses rebuild in our community, concentrating our efforts on locally-owned businesses west of 35W, with an emphasis on POC and immigrant owned businesses. We are also providing support for businesses who are not eligible for other funds or grants.
We encourage you to make a contribution to the Lyn-Lake Region Business Recovery Fund here and the George Floyd Family Fund. We know there is much to do, but with your help we can begin the work to nurture, support and inspire.

PLYWOOD: We are working with other community organizations to collect plywood that is no longer needed to be repurposed for 1.) a donation to a re-use nonprofit (if blank) or 2.) to keep safe for a potential future memorial/public art piece/etc. yet TBD ideally by a black-led arts organization to preserve this pivotal moment. We understand that the Minnesota Historical Society and likely other organizations are taking on similar efforts and we will connect with them as well. Please share so that we can ensure as much plywood as possible has a second life!
